RWE Supply & Trading Japan Inc. is a 100% subsidiary of RWE Supply & Trading GmbH, a Germany based, leading player in worldwide commodity trading. Our business scope comprises energy related commodities like power, natural gas (pipeline and LNG), biomass and other fuels but also seaborne freight and metals. The company also ensures the commercial optimisation of power plant dispatch at RWE and markets electricity from renewables.

The core of our Japanese business is power trading. Size, diversified stack, number of players and stage of development make the Japanese power trading market an interesting destination. We will leverage our experiences from the liberalisation of similarly structured European markets to help the further development of the market, increase liquidity, offer innovative, structured products including PPA, hydrogen and ammonia, and hedging solutions to other participants. On the retail side our focus is on bigger, high voltage customers. In the wholesale and trading market we aspire to be a reliable partner for utilities, other energy companies, retailers as well as generators and renewable power producers. We hope to contribute to the development of Japan’s relatively new power trading market through active cooperation with other stakeholders.

The company is also providing a platform to broaden and strengthen already existing, successful relationships with Japanese business partners mainly in fuel supply but also to offer our other commodities like all components of the steel complex and seaborne freight to the Japanese market.
